London had its first "proper" snow of the 2012/13 winter season today - that is to say something which actually stuck to the ground (we had some flurries in the week but the big fat flakes all perished as they hit the unfrozen ground). I guess it's about an inch, or maybe and inch and a half. As usual, everything grinds to a halt, supermarkets are full of panic buying, and of course.... the Royal School Of Needlework has canceled all day courses this weekend. The latter is particularly upsetting as I have been looking forward to it for MONTHS! They've rescheduled for next weekend, but I'm sure there will be some leaves on the train lines by then and our tutor Helen Stevens won't be able to make the arduous journey from East Sussex.
All I want to know is... where is the quintessential stiff upper lip of the Brits at a time like this?
